Adventure World

Adventure World

Approximately 40 minutes by car from the hotel

This unique theme park integrates a zoo, an aquarium and an amusement park, making it an enjoyable experience for people of all ages, from small children to the elderly. Numerous animals, such as lions, elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, dolphins and many, many more, live on the vast, sprawling over 800 square kilometers, grounds of this park. It is also home to as many as five Giant Pandas, making it one out of only three facilities in Japan to keep them.

In Adventure World you can get really up and close with some of the animals or even try hand-feeding them. The facility’s rich offer also includes various shows and attractions, with the night safari and night show being particularly popular during the summer season and the New Year’s period. This is truly a must-visit when in the Shirahama area.

Kumano Kodo (Kumano Sanzan)

Kumano Kodo (Kumano Sanzan)

Kumano Kodo is a network of pilgrimage routes crisscrossing the Kii Peninsula. These sacred trails have been used since ancient times to travel to Kumano Sanzan, which refers to the Three Grand Shrines of Kumano, Kumano Hongū Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha and Kumano Hayatama Taisha. Whether you are looking to immerse yourself in the world of old Japanese customs and beliefs, or for a picturesque hiking opportunity, Kumano Kodo is a great pick that will make you feel almost as if you travelled back in time.

All three shrines alongside the 133 meters tall waterfall, Nachi Falls, and the Tokei Shrine (located in Tanabe City) are counted among UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Rich in both history and lush nature, they remain very popular destinations among both Japanese and foreign tourists.
