Traditional Japanese Onsen Experience

The local hot spring, Fudonoyu (“Immovable Water”) got its name from a fictional battle between a crab and the eel, as told by a local legend. The legend is called “The Final Battle at Fudotaki” and goes as follows:
Once upon a time, in the city of Zao, a huge crab inhabited the Sangaitaki
One day, the crab thought to itself: why shouldn't I make the neighbouring Immovable Waterfall mine?
However, there was already a huge eel living in the neighbouring Immovable Waterfall. The crab formally invited the eel to test their strength and skill in battle, making the Immovable Waterfall the prize of the winner.
At the end of the battle, the crab chopped the eel's body into three parts.
The eel's head is said to be at Aone, the body at Gaga, and the tail at Toogatta. All three are hot spring sources.
Ever since then, the hot springs carry these names. Aone is known as the head, Gaga as the body, and the Toogatta as the tails.
