Mount Sarakura

Take the Slope-car to the top of the mountain! It takes around ten minutes to reach the top by a cable car and a slope car ride, and then you may find one of the three best night views of Japan spreading out under you. At the top of the mountain there is an observatory, and a restaurant with a panoramic view. For its romantic atmosphere, Mount Sarakura was selected as a “sacred site” for lovers.

Originally erected in the early seventeenth century, this is a twentieth century reconstruction of the Kokura Castle, which was destroyed by a fire in 1866. The inside of the castle has modern furnishings, and serves as a historical museum centring on the castle and its area. The top floor of the castle is accessible, and serves as an observatory to overlook the city. There is also a garden attached to the castle, which comes with a traditional Japanese-style building that is used for garden observation.

11 Fukuoka Castle

Approximately 60 minutes from the hotel by car (using fast lane)

Completed in the seventeenth century, the Fukuoka Castle located in the Maizuru Park towers above the city with is imposing figure. The original castle was destroyed during the Meiji Restoration, but some buildings were restored, and the castle gardens provide to be a good cherry blossom viewing spot. Among other things, you can also see the ruins of an inn, dating before the erection of the Fukuoka Castle.
